Jailer 2 Releases on October 15: Rajinikanth Returns as 'Tiger' Muthuvel Pandian in Nelson's Sequel
Sun Pictures confirmed the Dussehra-week date after reshoot rumours. Anirudh Ravichander returns for the music, with Ramya Krishnan and SJ Suryah in the cast.
Rajinikanth's _Jailer 2_ is coming to cinemas on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in the Dussehra festive week. Producer Sun Pictures announced the date on X in September and later reconfirmed it with a new poster, putting an end to speculation that reshoots would push the film back.

- Star: Rajinikanth reprises his role as "Tiger" Muthuvel Pandian, the retired jailer with a violent past.

A changing release date
Rajinikanth himself had earlier said the film would release on June 12, 2026. That date was replaced, and when reports of reshoots surfaced, there was talk of a delay to September or later. Sun Pictures has since confirmed October 15.
Why expectations are high
The first _Jailer_, released in August 2023, was one of the biggest hits of Rajinikanth's career, powered by its mass moments, Anirudh's music and much-discussed guest appearances. Sequels to such hits carry enormous expectations, and _Jailer 2_ also arrives in a busy month: Ajay Devgn's _Drishyam 3: The Conclusion_ is still running, and several Hindi releases follow later in October.
