Indian shows and films
Koffee With Karan, Season 9 — JioHotstar, October 14 Karan Johar's chat show returns for its last season after 22 years, with Salman Khan as the first guest. Read our full guide to the final season.
Roadies Rebirth, Season 21 — Netflix and JioHotstar, October 16 India's longest-running youth adventure show is back, hosted by Rannvijay Singha. This season's twist is a "Veterans vs New Age" battle between gang leaders: Prince Narula, Neha Dhupia and Nikhil Chinapa on one side, and Abhishek Malhan, Bani J and Baseer Ali on the other. Streaming on both Netflix and JioHotstar makes it one of the more widely available reality shows of the season.

The Traitors, Telugu edition — Prime Video, October 15 The global reality format, in which players try to unmask secret "traitors" among them, gets a Telugu version hosted by actor Teja Sajja, with 20 celebrity contestants in a royal palace setting.
Aasha — ZEE5, October 16 (Malayalam) A psychological thriller with Urvashi, Joju George and Aishwarya Lekshmi, about a family secret that threatens relationships as suspicion grows. Malayalam thrillers have built a big following across India on streaming, so this is one to watch, with subtitles if needed.
Two formats with long histories
Roadies first aired on MTV India in 2003, making it one of the country's longest-running reality shows. Its auditions, tough tasks and outspoken gang leaders turned many contestants and judges into household names. The Traitors is a newer idea: the format began in the Netherlands in 2021 as De Verraders and has since been remade in many countries, including a Hindi version. Its mix of strategy, suspicion and drama has made it one of the most widely copied reality formats in the world.
International picks
Disclosure Day — JioHotstar, October 12 Steven Spielberg's science-fiction thriller stars Emily Blunt and Josh O'Connor. A television weather presenter is drawn into a secret investigation into life beyond Earth. The listing reports the film earned about $241 million at the box office.
The Diplomat, Season 4 — Netflix, October 14 Keri Russell returns as diplomat Kate Wyler, with Rufus Sewell, as the political dangers around her grow.

VisionQuest — JioHotstar, October 14 A Marvel series spun off from WandaVision, with Paul Bettany as Vision, trying to recover his memories and understand who he is. It is a Disney+ release, available in India on JioHotstar.
Helluva Boss, Season 3 — Prime Video, October 14 An adult animated comedy about a team of assassins from the underworld. Not for children.
Still fresh from last week
- Reporting Live (Netflix, October 9): Parineeti Chopra plays a journalist investigating an illegal sand-mining racket.
- Awarapan 2 (Prime Video): Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani's action thriller is now free for subscribers, after a rental release.

Tips for a better streaming week
- Check the age rating in the app before watching with children. Several titles this week are for adults.
- Use subtitles to explore films in other Indian languages; some of the best thrillers this year have been in Malayalam and Telugu.
- Download over Wi-Fi if you plan to watch while travelling.
- Review your subscriptions: with shows spread across JioHotstar, Netflix, Prime Video and ZEE5, it can be cheaper to subscribe to one or two at a time and switch each month.
Release dates can change at short notice, so check the platform's app before you settle in. For films in cinemas, see our October theatre guide.
