RoDTEP and RoSCTL Export Schemes Extended to December 31: What Exporters Need to Know
Both schemes continue at unchanged rates for three more months. Exporters, especially garment makers, had asked for a longer extension.

Two schemes that refund taxes to India's exporters have been given another three months. The RoDTEP scheme and the RoSCTL scheme for garments will both continue until December 31, 2026, at unchanged rates, after their previous deadline of September 30.
RoDTEP: refunds for all exporters
The Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme refunds taxes and duties that exporters pay along the way, such as on fuel, electricity or local levies, which are not covered by GST refunds. Without such refunds, these hidden costs make Indian goods less competitive abroad.
- Extension: the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) extended the scheme through Notification No. 41/2026-27 dated September 30, 2026.
- Rates: the existing rates and value caps (set out in Appendix 4R and 4RE) continue unchanged.
- Who is covered: exports by units in the domestic tariff area, Advance Authorisation holders, Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units and Export Oriented Units (EOUs).
RoSCTL: support for garments and made-ups
The Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) scheme does a similar job specifically for apparel, garments and made-ups (such as bed linen and towels). The Ministry of Textiles extended it from October 1 to December 31, 2026, at existing rates.
In 2025-26 the scheme benefited more than 15,400 exporters across over 444 districts, most of them MSMEs, according to reports of the announcement.
Why exporters want more than three months
Exporters welcomed the extension but asked for a longer-term commitment. Export orders are often signed months in advance, and uncertainty about whether a refund scheme will exist when goods are shipped makes it harder to quote prices. Short extensions have become a pattern, and industry bodies argue that a multi-year framework would help them plan.
The timing matters for textiles in particular. Exporters have faced difficult conditions in the US market, and the government has also temporarily suspended import duties on cotton from June 1 to October 31, 2026 to ease raw material costs.
What exporters should do
- Keep claiming under the current rates for shipments up to December 31.
- Watch for the next notification before the end of the year.
- Check the DGFT and Ministry of Textiles websites for the official text.
